BLUE HEADDRESS 2022
MATERIALS: Foam Flowers, Blue Yarn, Felt Fabric, Rhinestones, Crystals, Hot Glue

This headdress is very special. I did not make these flowers, they were purchased from Amazon. I purchased these flowers when a dear friend of ours passed away. His name was John Ruddy. John was known for adding rhinestones to his paintings. Aside from being a wonderful friend, I was a huge fan of John’s work. His work was colorful, bold and awe inspiring. When he passed away in 2022, many artists from the community decorated flowers by putting rhinestones on them in his honor. They brought the decorated flowers to his funeral to hold or give out. After I gave all of mine out, I had a box of these foam flowers leftover. The headdress was created overnight, I worked for 10 hours straight. I had some blue yarn that matched the color of the flowers and I simply started to piece everything together. I did not stop until it was done. I wear this piece with so much pride because it honors a great friend, man and artist. I have worn and styled this headdress to attend and to play music at some really fun events. In 2024 I would go on to make Chelo’s Blue Bird Headdress to go as a matching pair to this one. Both headdresses together are stunning and get a lot of positive attention and awe from audiences.
